These values are as important to the team as our dedication to producing the very best quality meat; so, it was a no-brainer when the opportunity arose to sponsor our local boxing club, Doon Valley.
Situated in Dalmellington, Ayrshire, the Doon Valley Boxing Club was established by trainer Sam Mullen in a mission to share his passion for boxing with the local community. By setting up the club, Sam not only created a new social hub for young people in the area, but also gave many of them a new direction and sense of discipline they couldn’t find anywhere else.
It wasn’t until our own next generation became the newest additions to Sam’s team of fiercely focussed boxers that we realised just important Sam’s project was to the community. And as we got more immersed in the stories of the Doon Valley boxers, we knew that their club would be the perfect local cause for ‘We hae meat’ to support.
It was with great pride that we recently helped send the Doon Valley Boxing Club off to compete at tournaments in Northern Ireland and Slovakia. Even more rewarding was the news that they’d scooped two gold medals and one silver while on the continent!
As well as supporting the whole Doon Valley Boxing Club in any way we can, we’re also proud personal sponsors of local fighter Rhys Pagan.
At the tender age of 21, Rhys isn’t only an exceptionally good boxer – he’s also an incredibly driven individual with an admirable sense of self-sufficiency that’s a true inspiration to folk of any age. With undoubtedly big things on his horizon, it’s a real honour to help him advance his professional boxing career.
Fancy a shot in the ring at Doon Valley Boxing Club? We strongly recommend it for wee ones and adults alike. It’s the perfect way to justify an energising full Scottish breakfast (starring our steak slice, of course) and a great way to immerse yourself in Ayrshire life.
